Short CV

Mirko Hoppe was born on June 9. 1978. He studied transport and economics at Dresden, University of Technology. His master thesis dealt with the question about the management of information- and communication systems in freight forwarder networks.

Since April 2004, he worked as scientist assistance at the chair of business administration, esp. Management of Transport Companies and Logistics, leading by Prof. Knut Haase. He finished his Ph.D. on modelling branch networks of parcel service providers in 2009. In this thesis, he found that a higher flexibility of network-planning is based on a simultaneous consideration of the relevant competition and consumer behaviour.

From April 2010 to March 2012, he was responsible for special airport projects at the Leipzig/Halle Airport with topics e.g. strategic management, business development, improving operational efficiencies.

In his last position for an automotive supplier, Mirko managed projects for the air cargo safety certifications of European plants, supported global transportation tenders and he was responsible for planning and implementation of transports different modes in Great China.

Actually, he is responsible for transportation planning. His focus is the inbound transport for overseas sites of an automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturing company

Two published books, several papers, reports and talks in different scientific fields reflect his wide field of interests reaching from competitive location planning, transport network modelling over Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
